Dr. Amanda S. Haber, Ph.D.
Principal Investigator & Lab Director
Dr. Amanda S. Haber is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Fairfield University. She earned her Ph.D. in Applied Human Development from Boston University. She also earned her Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.) degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Human Development from the University of Pennsylvania as well as her Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree and teaching license in Early Childhood Education from Boston University. Her research interests include caregiver-child conversations and storybook reading interactions, STEM education, language development and learning, and technology and digital media use in early childhood. Her work has been published in a variety of scholarly journals, including Journal of Cognition and Development, Early Childhood Research Quarterly, Mind, Brain, and Education, and Journal of Experimental Child Psychology. Katie Bagley
Research Assistant
Katie Bagley is a Junior Psychology major with a minor in Special Education at Fairfield University. She is interested in child and developmental psychology research. The Child Development and Learning Laboratory is her first research experience, and she is very excited and grateful for the opportunity! When Katie is not in the lab, she loves to read, dance, ski, listen to music, and hang out with her friends. In the future, Katie hopes to pursue a career in School Psychology.
Kara Bode
Research Assistant
Kara Bode is a Junior Psychology Major with a concentration in Behavioral Neuroscience and minors in Educational Studies and Health Studies. She has a strong interest in developmental psychology, particularly in early childhood development. This is Kara’s first experience with research and she is looking forward to contributing to the Child Development and Learning Lab! Outside of the lab, Kara enjoys working with children, going on long walks, and spending time with her friends and family.
Melia Swenson
Research Assistant
Mia Swenson is a Junior Psychology student studying in the College of Arts and Sciences at Fairfield University. She has minors in Educational Studies and Mathematics. She has research interests in developmental psychology, specifically the early childhood age, as well as clinical psychology, also in children and adolescents. This is her first research experience, and she is very excited to learn more about research topics, and be a part of the Child Development & Learning Lab! Outside of the lab, Mia enjoys running, reading romance books, and hanging out with her friends.



Ellie Ruel
Research Assistant
Ellie Ruel is a Junior at Fairfield University majoring in Psychology (with a concentration in Behavioral Neuroscience) as well as Studio Art. She has research interests in both developmental and social psychology. This is Ellie’s first research experience at Fairfield, and she is so excited for a great semester with the Child Development and Learning Lab! In her free time, Ellie enjoys drawing, going to concerts, and hanging out with her friends.

Kayleigh Mezick
Research Assistant
Kayleigh Mezick is a Junior Psychology student
studying in the College of Arts and Sciences at
Fairfield University. She has a minor in Special
Education. She is very interested in learning more
about the world of research, getting to know more
about child development, and school psychology.
This is her first research experience, and she is very excited to learn more about collecting data and how to run a research project. Outside of the lab, Kayleigh enjoys singing, dancing, and acting.

Julia Tomcho
Research Assistant
Julia Tomcho is a Senior Psychology Major with minors in Educational Studies and Spanish at Fairfield University. Her research interests include child and adolescent development as well as clinical psychology. This is her first research experience, and she is very excited to participate in the Child Development and Learning Laboratory! When Julia is not in the lab, she enjoys playing sports, reading, and spending time with friends. Julia aspires to become an elementary school teacher or clinical child psychologist in the future,

Katelyn Kramer
Research Assistant
Katelyn Kramer is a Senior Psychology student studying in the College of Arts and Sciences at Fairfield University. She has a minor in Educational Studies and a concentration in Behavioral Neuroscience. She has research interests in child and developmental psychology. The Child Development and Learning Laboratory is her first research experience. She’s enthusiastic about this opportunity and excited to enhance her knowledge. Outside of the lab, Katelyn enjoys working out, going to the beach, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family.

Jane Oshatz
Research Assistant
Jane Oshatz is a Sophomore Psychology major with minors in Educational Studies, Health Studies, and French. She is interested in child and adolescent development, particularly in the development of language. This is Jane’s first experience with research and she is excited to explore different research topics and make new discoveries by being a part of the Child Development & Learning Lab! Outside of the lab, Jane enjoys creative writing, skiing, and spending time with her friends and family.
Morgan Zickendrath
Research Assistant
Morgan Zickendrath is a Sophomore Psychology Major with a concentration in Behavioral Neuroscience. She has a strong interest in developmental and cognitive psychology. The Child Development and Learning Laboratory is Morgan's first research experience, and she is extremely excited about this opportunity! Outside the lab, she babysits for multiple families, loves reading, and loves fitness!
